I had the opportunity to help define the look and feel for the world map in AC: Mirage, which was quite the undertaking, as it was originally a very 2 dimensional map in Valhalla. One of the major changes was the shift to a more 3-dimensional angle at closer zoom distance, which required a shader overhaul for the fog/unfog edges so that it would look good no matter what angle the camera was in while also being optimized.
